​2026 SCHOLARSHIP INFO 




Congratulations to the 26 recipients of the 2025 Arthur E. Coia Scholarship, including an extra special congratulations to Gilma Rosales of Regis College, and Jazleen Rosales of Bentley University . They are the twin daughters of our longtime member of Local 1421, Lino Rosales. We are so proud of both Gilma and Jazleen , and can’t wait to see all that they can accomplish in their new chapters.

Since its inception in 1989, the fund has awarded over $3.5 million in scholarships to union member’s children, aiding over 650 recipients in their journey for higher education. We wish all of their recipients continued success as they begin this new journey in their life.

The Arthur E. Coia Scholarship & Education Fund is designed to provide financial aid to undergraduate, full-time, matriculating students of an accredited institution (college, university, or technical school).  This award is renewable each year while attending an undergraduate college/university of your choice, conditioned on your meeting the academic criteria set forth by the Scholarship Committee.  Currently, the funding is $2,500 per year or a total of $10,000 if renewed for all four years of undergraduate study.
 
The scholarship is available to New England Laborers, their spouses and their children only.  Grandchildren and nieces and nephews of New England Laborers are not eligible.  The Union member must be a member in good standing of an affiliated Local Union of the Laborers' International Union of North America from New England.  New England includes the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
 
All materials will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee and evaluations will be based on scholastic merit, financial need, extracurricular accomplishments and submitted essay.
 
The 2026 Application Due Date Is May 1, 2026.
All applicants will be informed of the scholarship awards in July.
